OCTOBER 2009
Curator: Dorothy Clarke

In the North Country, where I come from, autumn is a distinct season (of the yearly cycle). One knows that it is coming when the days become colder. Autumn often comes through in a blaze of color as the leaves change and then fall from the trees, waiting for snow.
Here in Texas the season is less distinct and instead is marked by events such as the start of school, Thanksgiving, Hallowe'en and Day of the Dead celebrations. These events acknowledge an important part of the life cycle and often move us deeply. As artists we record in visual form how we are moved. Autumn is a favorite time of the year for many of us. However this season affects you, I invite TVAA artists to bring their diverse experiences and emotions associated with this season in art forms that we can all enjoy in this gallery showing. Let's celebrate this season.
